Day 52 Progress Report & Dutch KNIE sayings

We had received free tickets for an afternoon/evening) visit to Blijdorp Zoo (Rotterdam) from our energy supplier. They are busy promoting alternative types of energy, like 3.400 solar energy panels on the roof of the Oceanium (YouTube film with reasonable music !)

So even though my knee was a bit painful we decided to go.
I am supposed to try more walking, so I put my sport knee brace on, took a couple of Paracetamol and of we went.....

PS: For my Dutch readers... a good way to help Blijdorp financially and to get into the Zoo several times a year for FREE (via the lectures) is to become a 'Vriend van Blijdorp' It's a LOT cheaper than a subscription to the Zoo itself!!!

It was perfect weather and the evening sun gave a good light. Photo's here

.And the really GOOD thing is that my knee is to be a LOT better this morning :~) So walking must be good for it, even if I came home exhausted !

And as it's weekend, a few bits of useless information to keep you busy:

Dutch also has several sayings and proverbs concerning knees:

Door de knieen gaan =
Literally 'to go thought your knees'.
Means to give in, yield or subject oneself to...

Hij heeft een evenknie gevonden =
He has met his match

Iets onder de knie hebben =
Literally 'to get something under ones knee'.
Means to have acquired a skill or learnt something.
English equivalent "get something under ones belt"

(perhaps I should take heed of this ? ! )

In God's winkel ligt alles op de onderste plank, je moet knielen om het te krijgen =
In God's shop everything is on the bottom shelf, you have to kneel to get something. (The Dutch are very Calvanististic)

Zijn knie steekt door zijn hoofd =
Literally 'His knee pokes through his head'
Mean he's bald !
